In a bid to acknowledge academic excellence, the Assam government is to distribute Scooties to high-scoring students on November 30th. Female students achieving 60% and male students with a score of 75% in their Higher Secondary exams qualify for the initiative, covering insurance and registration costs.
However, a concerning development has emerged as students report fraudulent calls demanding money for registration and insurance via UPI. Education Minister of Assam, Ranoj Pegu, urges recipients not to pay and promptly report such incidents to nodal Principals. Minister, reassures that all associated costs are already covered by the government.
Despite the scam threats, the Scooty distribution program, designed to provide convenient transportation, remains steadfast. Minister Pegu encourages students to stay vigilant, and swift reporting of fraudulent calls will assist authorities in taking decisive action against scammers, preserving the integrity of the initiative.
