Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Wednesday that the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination results for 2025 will not be released on April 10 as anticipated. The statement, shared via a post on X at 15:34 UTC, has sparked a wave of reactions among students, parents, and educators across the state.
In his bilingual message, Sarma addressed the public in both English and Assamese, stating, “I would like to inform all parents and students that the HSLC examination results will not be released tomorrow. Once the results are ready, the board will announce them promptly. Please remain patient.”
The HSLC, commonly referred to as the matric exam, is a pivotal milestone for Class 10 students in Assam, determining their eligibility for higher secondary education. Administered by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA), the examination process is a significant event in the state’s academic calendar. SEBA, established under the Assam Secondary Education Act of 1961, has been overseeing secondary education in the state since its inception in 1962, ensuring the regulation and development of academic standards.
The announcement comes amid heightened anticipation, as students and parents were expecting the results to be declared shortly after the completion of the exams. While no specific reason for the delay was provided in Sarma’s statement, the Chief Minister’s call for patience suggests that SEBA may be taking additional time to ensure accuracy and fairness in the evaluation process.
