    Vitamin was invented by F. G. Hopkins but the term vitamin was given by Funk. There are two types of vitamins –  Water Soluble and Fat-soluble. Water Soluble Vitamins are B and C, whereas Fat-Soluble Vitamins are A, D, E and K

    Vitamin A: Retinol
    Source of Vitamin A: Milk, Cheeze, Egg, Fish Liver Oil, Green Vegetables.
    Diseases: Night Blindness, Tod skin

    Vitamin B and its types

    Vitamin B1: Thiamin (Scientific Name)
    Diseases: Beri Beri
    Source of Vitamin B1: Ground Nut, dried chilly, pulses, rapeseed

    Vitamin B2: Riboflavin (Scientific Name)
    Diseases: Cracking od skin, Reddish eye etc.
    Source of Vitamin B2: Milk, Meat, Veg

    Vitamin B3: Nicotinamide (Scientific Name)
    Diseases: Pallegra, 4D syndrome
    Source of Vitamin B3: Groundnut, meat, tomato, potato, leafy vegetable.

    Vitamin B5: Pantothenic Acid (Scientific Name)
    Diseases: Whitening of hair, mentally retarded
    Source of Vitamin B5: Liver, tomatoes, meat, milk, and egg.

    Vitamin B6: Pyrodixine (Scientific Name)
    Diseases: Anaemia
    Source of Vitamin B6: Liver, meat, grains.

    Vitamin B7: Biotin (Scientific Name)
    Diseases: Paralysis
    Source of Vitamin B7: All seasonal vegetables, cucumber, meat, egg, dairy products.

    Vitamin B12: Cyanocobalamin (Scientific Name)
    Diseases: Jaundice
    Source of Vitamin B12: All citrus fruits, dairy products.

    Vitamin C: Ascorbic Acid (Scientific Name)
    Diseases: Scurby
    Source of Vitamin C: Lemon, Orange, Tomato, Chilly

    Vitamin D: Calciferol (Scientific Name)
    Diseases: Rickets (Child), Osteomalacia (Adults)
    Source of Vitamin D: Sunlight, Cod Liver Oil, Egg

    Vitamin E: Tocopherol (Scientific Name)
    Diseases: Less Fertility
    Source of Vitamin E: Leafy vegetables, Dairy Products

    Vitamin K: Phylloquinone (Scientific Name)
    Diseases: Non-clotting of Blood
    Source of Vitamin K: Soybean Oil, tomato
